about
A young girl had a simple idea – to feed the hungry; and so Sophie’s Bread Box was born. Located in small room at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, volunteers collect and sort non-perishable goods for those in need. Bags filled with food await those who come seeking nourishment. This is a place that feeds the body and the soul. This ministry has served men, women and children throughout the Raleigh area and is now supported those who need it most, children who can not speak for themselves. Partnering with Douglas Elementary School in Raleigh, Sophie’s Bread Box now seeks to fill 26 backpacks every weekend with food to sustain children who may otherwise has little to no access to food over the weekends when school is not in session. This is a completely voluntary ministry which relies solely on the gifts of food and monetary contributions from individuals and and others.
